The Norwich Merchants fell to the Wellesley Applejacks 5-4 and the Tavistock Braves suffered a 4-1 loss to the New Hamburg Firebirds.
PJHL - It was a rough night for Oxford County's Doherty Division teams.
It was a close one, but the Norwich Merchants did suffer a 5-4 loss to the Wellesley Applejacks in Game 1 of their semifinal series last night. Game 2 will takeover Nor-Del Arena tomorrow night with the puck drop scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Tavistock Braves fell to the New Hamburg Firebirds last night 4-1. New Hamburg is now leading the best-of-seven semifinal series 1-0 and Game 2 will be in Tavistock tomorrow night. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m.
Final. Braves drop Game 1 by a score of 4-1. Glendinning has the goal. Hopper makes 27 saves in the loss. Final shots; Tavistock - 32 @NHFirebirds - 31.
