The Navy Vets lost to the Braves on Friday, but they were able to beat the Merchants yesterday.
PJHL - It was a mixed weekend for the Woodstock Navy Vets.
They fell to the Tavistock Braves 5-2 on Friday. The Braves scored a powerplay goal with less than three minutes left in the game to break a 2-2 tie, and two empty net goals secured the win for Tavistock.
The Vets bounced back with a 4-2 victory over the Norwich Merchants yesterday. Diego Sabino scored twice for Woodstock and Tyler Bouck finished the game with 34 saves.
The Braves doubled the Paris Titans 4-2 on Saturday, but they were defeated by the Dorchester Dolphins 3-2 in overtime yesterday.
The Merchants shutout the Hespeler Shamrocks 6-nothing on Friday and they crushed the Wellesley Applejacks 4-1 on Saturday.
The New Hamburg Firebirds are leading the Doherty Division standings with 24 points. They're followed by the Merchants with 22 points, the Applejacks with 20 points, the Navy Vets with 19 points, the Dolphins with 14 points, and the Braves with 13 points. The Shamrocks and the Titans are tied for last place with eight points each.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans fell to the Exeter Hawks 2-1 on Friday but bounced back with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Mount Brydges Bulldogs on Saturday.
The Trojans are tied with the Bulldogs for fifth place in the Yeck Division standings with 14 points. They're behind the Port Stanley Sailors with 16 points, the North Middlesex Stars with 19 points, the Petrolia Flyers with 24 points, and the Hawks with 26 points.
