Emily Stowe raising funds to help build a new playground.
Emily Stowe in Norwich is looking to raise $30,000 for more playground equipment.
It's part of the second annual "Play Date with Emily Stowe" fundraiser which raised $36,000 last year for a primary play set.
Principal Lisa Munro says the new play structure will go up in the junior/intermediate area of the school yard. "We're only in our second year together. We built a play structure for our full day kindergarten, we have 100 kids who access that play area and we wanted to add some enhancements. With 540 kids we have a lot of students throughout grade 1 through grade 8 that would benefit from some additional equipment outside."
Munro says a prime rib dinner isn't the only draw of the night. "Lots of items have been coming in for the auction so we have lots of great things on the bid. Doors open at 4pm and dinner is served between 5 and 6pm and then the silent auction will take place throughout the evening so the live auction begins at 7pm sharp and I've heard that's going to be a real treat."
The event runs Saturday, March 1 at the Norwich Community Centre.
Tickets are $30 a piece and can be purchased from the school's front office or by contacting Marianne Butler of the fundraising committee at 519-879-6798.
