Key issues regarding issues within Oxford County were discussed with Premier Wynne in London
LONDON - Oxford County was well represented in the annual meeting of wardens and mayors in Southwestern Ontario with the Premier.
Warden Mayberry got a chance to talk about some of his concerns and questions for the future with Premier Kathleen Wynne, Deputy Premier Deb Matthews and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Ted McMeekin. Mayberry tells Heart FM one of the key issues they discussed was transportation "the desire and want for a southwest network transportation, and looking at high speed rail, the Windsor to Toronto corridor going right through the middle of southwest Ontario, what is that going to mean and who is going to be on it and who is not going to be on it, and how do you help people connect to a high speed system."
Some of the other topics of discussion centred around sustainability initiatives, community connectivity and concerns about private landfill development.
Mayberry says the meeting was an important opportunity to begin a dialogue with our provincial leaders and is looking forward to his next meeting with the Premier.
