Support workers in Ontario are about to get a boost from the province.
The Ontario government is extending the temporary wage increase for personal and direct support workers in long-term care, social services, public hospitals and publicly funded home and community care.
The temporary wage increase, which was slated to end June 30th, will continue until August 23rd of this year.
Since October 1st, 158,000 support workers have received a pay bump, including an extra $3 an hour for home and community care workers, $2 an hour for public hospital staff, and $3 an hour for long-term care workers.
