TILLSONBURG/INGERSOLL - The Province of Ontario is investing over $1.68 million dollars in the hospitals in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll.
The money is part of a $175 million set aside this year to address critical upgrades, repairs and maintenance in 129 hospitals across the province, including $50 million for COVID-19 related and other urgent projects.
In Oxford, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital will receive $1,360,776 and Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll will receive $322,329 for 2020 and 2021 through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. President and CEO of both hospitals Sandy Jansen says this funding will support projects such as replacing the roof and repairing brick work at Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll, and replacing generators at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
“We are incredibly grateful that the Ministry of Health has provided this funding to support the infrastructure needs at both of our locations. Delivering the safest and highest quality care to our communities close to home is our highest priority and this funding will enable to make much needed investments into the maintenance of our aging buildings.”
Health Minister Christine Elliott says maintaining hospital infrastructure is another example of how our government is ensuring that Ontarians have access to health care services they can depend on, especially during these unprecedented times.
“Our ongoing investments to support essential projects like repairing roofs and windows and adding more isolation spaces can make a big difference to a patient's experience. It’s part of our plan to build the capacity we need to end hallway health care in Ontario.”
Local MPP Ernie Hardeman says the funding means local residents will have better access to health care.
“Our government is investing in Ontario’s hospitals to ensure they have the infrastructure and resources they need to provide quality care and services to communities in Oxford and across the province. This collective $1.68 million in funding to the Tillsonburg District Memorial and Alexandra Hospitals will ensure local residents have access to a modern and safe health care facility now and in the future.”
