A student at Fanshawe's Woodstock campus named ex-officio student board member
OXFORD COUNTY - For the second year in a row a nursing student from Fanshawe College's Oxford campus has been appointed to the provincial nursing board. This year's recipient is second year practical nursing student Janice Dryburgh. Dryburgh also won the bursary for her essay about the scope of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. Nursing Program Coordinator at Fanshawe's Woodstock/Oxford Campus Jennifer Black calls the essay--outlining the scope of nursing-- "visionary."
"She (Janice) had applied for an educational bursary, she was awarded that bursary-- from the application process she was identified as submitting something visionary, the board members of the RPNAO took notice and appointed her to be their ex-officio student board member."
During her one-year term Janice will be experiencing the professional association angle of nursing.
Janice will be mentored by the previous ex-officio student board member selected last year Scott Morrison. Morrison sits on the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario as a Board Member at Large.
"Every year they have a student that does become appointed to the board," Black added.
