Ingersoll's Mayor is looking to keep his job for four more years, he is officially tossing his name into the election.
INGERSOLL - The Mayor of Ingersoll will be running for re-election.
Ted Comiskey was first elected back in 2010 and now he will be seeking a third term this fall.
He says a big career highlight would be getting the town's financial books back in order.
"When I took over we had zero as far as reserves are concerned, we had no asset management to speak of whatsoever as far as maintaining buildings and streets and our infrastructure had been neglected phenomenally. At some point in time we only put in about $300,000 a year for infrastructure and that was not enough to keep up, maintain and look after our future."
Comiskey also joined a Mayor's coalition in order to push for lower OPP policing rates, which we now have today.
If he's elected this fall, he would like to add stopping the landfill to his list of accomplishments.
"I believe that we will stop the landfill from happening in the County of Oxford, the Township of Zorra and with the closeness it is to the Town of Ingersoll and I will continue to work hard at making that happen."
He also wants to make sure the new rec centre is shovel ready for whenever they receive the funding to make it happen.
