The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford County is gearing up for the 16th annual Relay for Life in Woodstock this Saturday
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford County is gearing up for the 16th annual Relay for Life in Woodstock.
Over 400 people have already signed up for the event which will take place at College Avenue Secondary School this Saturday from 6 p.m to midnight. Community Fundraising Specialist Liz Wismer-Van Meer tells Heart FM says they have set a pretty lofty fundraising goal this year. "Our goal for Woodstock this year is $250,000, Woodstock has always done really well with the fundraising aspect for Relay for Life, always up there quite high and when you look across the Province Woodstock always brings in a lot of money and is right up there with some bigger cities like London and Hamilton."
The fun gets started with a survivors lap and the special guest speaker this year is Zorra Tavistock Mayor Don McKay who will talk about his battle with cancer. They will also have plenty of live entertainment, a luminary ceremony and Heart FM's Dan Henry has agreed to MC the event this year. You can still register for the event at www.relayforlife.ca/woodstock or by stopping by the Canadian Cancer Society office at 65 Springbank Ave in Woodstock.
