A senior citizen is one of four people who were charged this weekend for various alcohol and marijuana related driving offences.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP have been busy with Holiday RIDE programs.
This past weekend they arrested and or charged three people during the spot checks, while another man was arrested after a routine traffic stop. On Friday night an 18 year old was charged under the Cannabis Act with having Cannabis under 19 years of age in Norwich Township on Highway 59 at Greenly Line. The teen was also charged for having liquor under the age of 19.
Two people are facing impaired driving charges after two separate RIDE checks in Tillsonburg. Police arrested a 32 year old on Friday morning just after midnight while doing a RIDE check on Broadway at Venison. Later that night a 78 year old senior citizen was arrested and charged with impaired driving at a spot check at Broadway and Bridge Street.
Meanwhile a 19 year old from Tillsonburg was arrested and charged after a traffic stop on Salford Road in South West Oxford. The man was charged with impaired driving, use plates not authorized for vehicle and not having a valid owners permit.
The OPP remind you that if you suspect that a person is driving or is about to drive impaired by alcohol or drugs, you should call 9-1-1 to report them to police.
