Come take part in Ride Don't Hide to support mental health.
WOODSTOCK - Help put an end to the stigma surrounding mental health with CMHA Oxford at this years 7th annual Ride Don't Hide.
Executive Director, Mike McMahon says Ride Don't Hide is a national cycling event held by CMHA.
"This ride was started by a gentleman who lives and still rides in the Vancouver ride but did ride his bike around the world and when he completed that, the attention it created led him to find Ride Don't Hide."
The event is on June 24th in the stage area of the Market Centre parking lot. All riders are expected to wear a helmet and obey traffic laws. The schedule for the day is as follows:
9:00 a.m. - Registration/ride check-in begin and breakfast is available.
9:30 a.m. - Opening ceremonies.
9:45 a.m. - 50K ride starts.
10:30 a.m - 28K ride starts.
10:45 a.m. - 13K ride starts.
11:00 a.m. - 8K ride starts.
11:30 a.m. - BBQ begins and massages and personal stretching available.
12:30 p.m. - Closing ceremonies and door prizes.
McMahon adds what's so important about the event.
"The real win for the community with Ride Don't Hide is an opportunity for people who experience mental illnesses and addiction illnesses to spend and be in solidarity with family, friends and other people in the community."
