The Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club will be serving a hot Christmas lunch at Dundas Street United Church tomorrow.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club is looking to spread a little holiday cheer to the less fortunate.
Member Doug Vincent says they will be serving a hot Christmas lunch at Dundas Street United Church tomorrow.
"If people want to come and visit Santa at 10:00 a.m. and have coffee and socialize. We're going to have gifts for all of the adults, so come and visit Santa to get your gift and then there is going to be a hot lunch served at 12:00 p.m."
He is also inviting other members of the public to stop by and get to know some of the less fortunate in our area.
"When you are with them you realize that in addition to being hungry in their stomachs, they're also hungry for social interactions. So it's important that we take time to visit with them, talk to them, share some dignity with them, and let them know that the world is not as bad as what they're been experiencing."
This is all part of the Rotary Club's Community Free Table program, which provides food to the less fortunate every Saturday. It used to be located on the front lawn of The Church of the Epiphany in Woodstock, but it moved inside Dundas Street United Church for the winter months. Before the move, Vincent says they would feed anywhere between 75 to 125 people depending on the week.
The club offers this program free of charge, and you can donate to the cause online here.
