The kettle raises $3000-5000 for the community over the course of the 10 days at the LCBO.
NORWICH - The Salvation Army Kettle arrived at the Norwich LCBO today to kick off their campaign and the Christmas season.
It's the 22nd year at the LCBO, and Community Ministries Coordinator April Greenwood says the kettle usually raises $3000-5000 over the course of the 10 days there.
"It helps us to provide safe housing, food, [Christmas] hampers, toys to kids in the community, and it continues to to help provide throughout the year."
The Salvation Army are always looking for volunteers, and this year Ward 2 Councillor Alisha Stubbs was first to help out.
"I think it's so good. I have so much respect for the Norwich Salvation Army and I think it's just a really good way to help support folks in our community directly over the holiday season."
Other community organizations will volunteer after Stubbs, including the Optimist Club, which are the Salvation Army's "number one supporters" according to Greenwood.
