Philip Schaefer is a Ward 1 Councillor for East Zorra-Tavistock and he will be running for the Mayors seat this fall.
EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK - The Ward 1 Councillor for East Zorra-Tavistock is looking to become the next Mayor.
Philip Schaefer has been a Township Councillor since 2018. He's also a retired bank manager and he worked for Scotiabank for 27-years.
"I've got a lot that I can offer to lead this Council in ensuring that we keep the strong financial position we have. Especially in these times of high inflation that affects municipal budgets just as much as household budgets."
If he becomes the next Mayor, Schaefer says the Township needs a new administration building.
"Our current building in Hickson we've overgrown it long ago. We have no Council chambers in it currently, we have staff working outside in trailers behind the building, and our septic system is problematic at best."
He says he would also focus on managing costs in a high inflation period and managing the growth of the municipality in regards to new homes and businesses.
The municipal election will be taking place on October 24th.
