The School Locator looks to make tracking down your child's potential school a breeze.
LONDON - Parents thinking about moving can easily find out which school their children would be moving to.
That's due to a new application launched by the Thames Valley District School Board called School Locator.
Thames Valley District School Board Planning Coordinator Nora Mitchell says this new application is easy to use.
"We wanted something that would be dynamic and interactive so that people could type in their address and if they were moving, find their designated school for a new address."
Mitchell says parents can find the application by clicking on the Find a School & Transportation button on the left side of Thames Valley’s district homepage.
"You can type in the address. It's just your house number and the street name or the house number and a street name for a house you think you might buy and you select 'search' and underneath will come up all the designated schools for that address. You can select grade and you can also filter by program so if you're interested in a French Immersion school, that will come up as well."
Mitchell says the idea came after several prospective parents kept calling the board office looking for school location information.
"We did have some static maps on our website but they were harder to use. This way parents can type in a number of addresses and it's for the whole Thames Valley District School Board."
Mitchell notes, this is only to find schools and that busing is not part of the application.
