WOODSTOCK - It was the last day of classes for most students in Oxford County and that means we will start seeing more kids on the streets playing this summer.
With this in mind the Woodstock Police are putting out a few reminders to motorists to slow down and be aware of your surroundings, especillay in residential areas. Constable Nikki Vanleeuwen says one thing they really want to stop seeing is distracted drivers. "Drivers need to be aware that there is going to be a lot more pedestrians, a lot more cyclists, I think that people need to slow down pay attention and just be alert of the increase in bike traffic and pedestrian traffic in Woodstock this summer."
Vanleeuwen says it only takes a few seconds for a tragic accident to occur. Already in Woodstock this year police have seen a number of collisions where cars are hitting pedestrians, even at crosswalks and in most cases it is because the driver is distracted.
