Police tell homeowners to be vigilant about door to door maintenance men.
Oxford OPP are looking into a report of a suspicious maintenance man who tried to rip off a senior in Thamesford.
Wednesday morning between 10 and 10:30, the man attended a home on Stanley St., claiming to be a maintenance inspector.
He wound up getting access to the home, and changed a furnace filter. He then tried to demand a large sum of money from the homeowners, who refused to pay the amount.
The man left the area in a red coloured pick-up.
Constable Ed Sanchuk tells Heart FM that police are concerned it may not be the first incident, "There was one resident in Zorra Township, there may be possibly others. If anyone has had this type of incident occur to them, please contact police immediately and let us know what's going on."
OPP are reminding residents, especially seniors to be vigilant when an unknown person arrives at your doorstep.
