Locals invited to attend silent vigil in Woodstock Saturday for pair of soldiers killed this week in separate attacks.
WOODSTOCK - A silent vigil has been planned in Woodstock to honour two soliders killed in separate incidents this week.
53 year old Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent died Monday after being hit by a car driven by a suspected terrorist and 24 year old Corporal Nathan Cirillo was shot at the National War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday.
Organizer of a silent vigil in the City, Sean Noon says he is a former reservist from Hamilton and knew Corporal Cirillo.
"I had met him a couple of times. He was a good man as I'm sure Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was as well. I feel that their sacrifices deserves respect and deserve honour. I don't want to see what happened to them go unnoticed and go unrecognized."
Noon is encouraging everyone to come to the cenotaph Saturday morning.
"Just pay some silent tribute to those who have given their lives. Show that we as citizens of the country of Canada, we're strong. Nothing is going to stop us from continuing on with our lives and honouring those who gave theirs."
Noon encourages those planning to attend to bring a candle.
"We will all light our candles as a group and just be silent. Hopefully, maybe a can sing the national anthem, but I don't want anything formal -- just citizens showing up and paying their respects."
The vigil is planned for Saturday at 10am at the Woodstock Cenotaph.
