The SIU has been called in to investigate a head-on crash between a stolen vehicle and a Woodstock Police cruiser on Ingersoll Road Wednesday night.
WOODSTOCK - The SIU is investigating a crash between a stolen vehicle and a Woodstock Police cruiser.
It happened at around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday January 25th, while Woodstock Police were responding to a report of a stolen Audi failing to remain at the scene of several crashes.
Police say the stolen vehicle eventually collided head-on with a marked cruiser on Ingersoll Road. The officer in the cruiser sustained minor injuries and the 31-year-old man behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released and remains in custody.
The Special Investigations Unit is called in whenever there is an incident with police that results in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or discharge of a firearm.
