Woodstock City Council is applying for funds through Ontario's Main Street Revitalization Initiative.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council is looking for funding from Ontario's Main Street Revitalization Initiative.
Council decided to submit an application at their meeting Thursday night.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says they want to use the money to smooth out the downtown crosswalks.
"We know it's quite bumpy and people would like a much smoother surface. So if we are successful in that application we will be able to combine it with some of our other funds, to remove some of those pavers and smooth out our downtown."
Ontario is investing up to $26 million in the initiative. Birtch is hoping for the best results.
"It's just a waiting game to see what our allocation might be; there are many other municipalities that will be applying as well. Hopefully we get a good chunk of money."
The funds will be administered by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario and its rural arm; the Rural Ontario Municipal Association.
