Craig Gillis is looking to run as an incumbent in this October election in South-West Oxford.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - The Ward 6 councilor is looking to run again in South-West Oxford.
Craig Gillis is looking to run for re-election and says he is looking forward to continuing to serve the community. He says there's a lot they have accomplished in the past four years and he would like to continue fulfilling them into his next term.
"There's a lot of things we're working on. I know efficiency is a big one for me. Moving forward with different things as long as it's efficient and a gain to the community and to our area, I think it's worth looking into."
Gillis says his future goals are to keep updating infrastructure and equipment in the community while continuing to improve roads and promote road safety.
He says he has always had a love for politics and giving back to the community even as a kid.
"I just finished my first term on council, it was very memorable given the state of the world. I have also served on a variety of different committees before. I continue to be involved as a volunteer fighter and I have always been involved in politics even in high school and as student council president in college. I always thought of myself as trying to help others and to pass it forward."
Ward 6 covers the North end of South-West Oxford, covering the majority of the greater Beachville area.
The municipal election will take place on October 24th.
