Oxford OPP are launching a stop and look campaign and will be handing out plenty of tickets at our local intersections.
The campaign runs from Wednesday to Sunday and officers will be targeting motorists at stop signs, and red lights.
Constable Stacey Culbert tells Heart FM they are doing the campaign in an effort to make our streets safer.
"Statistics indicate that from 2012 to 2014, Oxford OPP investigated 123 motor vehicle collisions where the primary cause of the collisions was vehicles failing to obey traffic controls including stop signs."
She adds don't expect to get a warning this week if you do not properly stop at a stop sign, blow through an amber light or fail to stop at a red light.
Officers will be set up at intersections across the County and will be focusing on intersections where they have gotten a number of complaints for the public or have had high collision rates in the past.
Charges for this campaign will include:
Disobey Stop Sign, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $110 fine and three demerit points.
Amber Light, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $180 fine and three demerit points.
Red Light, Fail to Stop - Highway Traffic Act, $325 fine and three demerit points.
