New Streets in Ingersoll will now be named after town veterans
INGERSOLL - New residential streets in Ingersoll will now be named after veterans from the town who fought for Canada. Ingersoll Council passed a bylaw that will force housing developers to choose from a list of veterans' names. Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey said the bylaw applies to new developments.
"A by-law has gone through that down the road any new subdivision that is developed or any street that is created by developers can now receive a list of names that are available for street naming and what we've done is that list is made up of war veterans."
The residents of the new development will also receive information about the veteran their street was named after. However in some cases developers can appeal to the town in order to name streets other names.
"Now this will allow special circumstances to arise if something significant comes forward that needs council to reconsider another name then certainly developers can bring that forward with their reasoning to council."
Ted Comiskey, Mayor of Ingersoll said the motion is a proud moment for the town.
