Southwestern Public Health will be accepting walk-in COVID-19 booster shot appointments from patients over the age of 70 this week.
SWPH - People over the age of 70 won't have to book an appointment if they would like to receive their COVID-19 booster shot.
Southwestern Public Health will be accepting walk-in booster shot appointments for the 70-plus age group this week only. The health unit says several COVID-19 fatalities have taken place in elderly individuals lately, so officials are encouraging everyone to get the booster, especially if it has been six months since their last dose.
Southwestern Public Health has two mass vaccination clinics, one at the Oxford Auditorium in Woodstock and another at the Southwestern Public Health office on Talbot Street in St. Thomas. The Woodstock clinic is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and the St. Thomas clinic is open Monday to Friday, also from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
The health unit is also offering three pop-up clinics in Oxford County this week:
Tuesday September 20th - Unifor Local 88 Hall (384 Victoria Street, Ingersoll)
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday September 22nd - Plattsville Arena (68 Mills Street, Plattsville)
9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Thursday September 22nd - Princeton Centennial Hall (35 Main Street, Princeton)
1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Go-Vaxx bus will be stopping in Tillsonburg, Woodstock, and Aylmer this week but you still have to book an appointment, even if you're over the age of 70.
The Ford Government started offering the new bivalent booster dose to the 70-plus age group last week. You can find more information regarding local COVID-19 vaccination clinics online here.
