Two seniors from Elgin and two seniors from Oxford County have died, two of the deaths are related to local LTC home outbreaks.
Southwestern Public Health is reporting 249 new cases of COVID-19 this morning.
The health unit also confirmed four additional deaths. They include a man in his 90's from Elgin County and a woman in her 80's from Elgin County. Both deaths are related to an outbreak at a Long-Term Care or Retirement Home.
Meanwhile a man in his 80's from Oxford and a woman in her 90's from Oxford also died from COVID-19. neither of those deaths are related to an outbreak.
The Health Unit can confirm 803 active cases in the community right now, however with limited access to testing, the actual number of active cases is much higher.
Two out of the four local hospitals are currently in outbreak right now. They are the hospital in St. Thomas and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
A total of 51 people are in the hospital with COVID-19 locally, including 10 people in the ICU.
18 out of 34 local long term care homes are in outbreak. 7 residents have died during the LTC home outbreaks that started late last year.
