Southwestern Public Health has launched a social media contest for Mental Health Awareness Week.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's Mental Health Week and Oxford County residents have a chance to enter a contest.
Southwestern Public Health is trying to get the stigma of sharing about mental health in the open and have people share their stories. Health Promoter Shreya Sachdeva says sharing can be the first step to finding a way to cope with mental health.
"Southwestern Public Health is holding a contest to get the conversation going. We are encouraging people to share a story on Facebook or Instagram about how compassion has had an impact on your life."
Sachdeva mentions that the entries need to have #SWPHContest attached to them, along with whether you are from Oxford County, Elgin County, or the City of St. Thomas. She says entries can be submitted by anyone who is 18 years of age or older. In addition, Sachdeva explains why Southwestern Public Health takes Mental Health Week so seriously.
"Mental Health Week is so important because it encourages us to learn and to talk about mental health with others."
If you are looking for more information on the contest rules and regulations, you can visit the Southwestern Public Health website.
