Some special visitors in Oxford County today hail from Taiwan. The group are here to promote a new book about George Leslie Mackay, aka the "Black Bearded Barbarian". The Oxford County missionary is legendary in Taiwan where he established schools, churches and a hospital. Oxford County Warden Don McKay has been showing the contingent around the County. "One of the amazing parts of Dr. Mackay's Ministry is his concern for health and welfare, so we'll be visiting the Woodstock Hospital, showing them how we continue with our medical services here in Oxford." The Taiwanese contingent includes Albert Yo, the Principal of Oxford College that George Mackay started some 130-years-ago. They finished their tour at the Woodstock Library in helping launch a collection of writings on and by Mackay called "North Formosa Mission Reports". It's available for reference at the Woodstock Public Library, or available for order for $80.
