The grandparent scam has popped up again, this time in Tavistock. On Wednesday an elderly woman received a telephone call from a man claiming to be her grandson asking for two thousand dollars for bail in Montreal. When the woman told the caller she didn't have the money and needed to call someone else, the alleged grandson pled with her not to involve anyone else before hanging up. The man called back once again, this time claiming the fine had been reduced and gave her the name of a lawyer to send the money to. When the woman refused, the man hung up. OPP are reminding residents if they receive these types of calls to simply hang up the telephone.
