Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll are suspending general visiting effective immediately.
TILLSONBURG/INGERSOLL - Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll are suspending general visiting.
The new rules started this morning at 7:00 am. The move to the emergency level of AHI and TDMH's Family Presence Guidelines was in response to a rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases in our community and region.
The visitor restrictions are in place as a precaution to keep patients, families and health care teams safe as transmission rates rise and the risk is at a crisis point for hospitals.
Virtual visits for family, friends and loved ones can be scheduled seven days a week for all patients by contacting AHI at 519-485-1700, extension 0 and TDMH at 519-842-3611, Ext. 0 and they need to be booked 24 to 72 hours in advance.
Approved Care Partners will be permitted entry to the hospitals in accordance with their agreement with the hospitals.
Care teams will work with families regarding visits for exceptional circumstances on a compassionate basis. Chief Nursing Executive Cheryl Pfaff says this was an extremely difficult decision.
"It is with a heavy heart that we are moving to visitor restrictions, especially at this time of year. We want to reassure families the staff working at the hospital recognize how distressing this news is. Please know that we are committed to being there for your loved ones when you can't be. We will smile at them, we will talk to them, we will listen to them, and we will care for them."
