Improved maternity leave and sick day benefits are part of the new deal reached between the province and its public high school teachers. As well, younger teachers will get a much better payout for banked sick days. And the government won't be making any changes to the salary grid that gives teachers raises based on experience and qualifications. Union members must still vote on the agreement, with the results expected in a couple of weeks.
