Ahead of the virtual run on September 20th, the Terry Fox Committee will be at the Farmer's Market for the next two Saturday's raising awareness for the event.
WOODSTOCK - It has been 40 years since Terry Fox captured the hearts and imaginations of Canadians from coast to coast in his attempt to run across this great country on one leg for cancer research.
Terry famously came through Woodstock during the run.
This years event is going to be virtual on Sunday September 20th and organizer John Versavel says they are really hoping people show up.
"Terry's legacy of hope matters and the people of Woodstock have supported him faithfully over the last 40 years and I believe they will do so again. As Terry said " anything is possible, if you try."
Versavel says they understand this year is going to be different and they are trying to make the best of it.
"Despite not being able to get together we are still working to promote the Run and raise funds for cancer research and people can register on line and if they had a pledge sheet last year, they will have received one in the mail along with an addressed envelope to return the sheet and funds to the Foundation. For those who are uncomfortable doing finances on line or by mail we will be having a Registration table set up on virtual Run day, Sunday Sept. 20th from 9am till noon at 116 Bee Street to accept pledge sheets, funds raised and register participants."
The Terry Fox Committee will be raising awareness with the following events over the next couple of weeks.
Saturday Farmers Market - Sept. 12th and 19th 7 am till noon
Promotion displays - Friday Sept 11th and Saturday Sept. 12th, 10 am till 3:00 pm at Home Hardware Building Centre, Woodstock
