Rambo won the Reserve Best in Show, or runner up, at the Canadian Kennel Club's National Championship Dog Show.
MISSISSAUGA/THAMESFORD - A local canine has been honoured on the national stage.
A Miniature American Shepherd (MAS) named Rambo won the Reserve Best in Show, or runner up, at the Canadian Kennel Club's National Championship Dog Show in Mississauga over the weekend.
He's based in Thamesford, where he's owned by Kelli Rettie and handled by Cody Longworth. Rettie is incredibly proud of this accomplishment.
"This moment is big, not just for Rambo and Cody, but for the MAS as a newly recognized breed. Their bond speaks for itself, and Team Hilltop stands behind the passion and effort it took to bring him here. As a breeder, this win is more than a ribbon - it’s a milestone for the future of the Miniature American Shepherd."
The Best in Show award went to Pekinese named Prince, owned and handled by Cynthia Dyson of Wilsonville. They also won top honours in the Toy division.
Officials say 814 dogs participated in the show over the weekend, representing 135 different dog breeds.
