WOODSTOCK - A newcomer has been presented with the First Place Float Award from the 2017 Woodstock Santa Claus Parade.
Representatives from Al's Tirecraft received the honour at Woodstock City Council last night. BIA Manager Kelly Morrison was very impressed with their submission.
"They were using the tires as towers, they had inflatables and lights and lights and more lights! It was good, it was worthy of first place."
Vuteq came in second place, and Great Northern Insulation won third.
Morrison explains how the winners are selected.
"We have some judges that are on the parade route that evening, as well as we look over the TV coverage from Rogers and pictures; we get a lot of pictures. It takes a while to choose."
The Best New Entry Award was given to Craigowan Golf Club, and Sysco won Best Float from a Corporate Sponsor. Two schools also got to take home the Best School Spirit Award; WCI and a combination float with Notre Dame and Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys.
