The pandemic didn't stop the Friendly City from growing in 2020 with 945 building permits issued last year.
WOODSTOCK - The pandemic didn't slow the City of Woodstock from growing in 2020.
The annual building permit report at City Council showed plenty of growth on the residential and industrial side. A total of 945 building permits were issued last year.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says this is great news for the Friendly City.
"This is the 6th year of continued growth in the Friendly City and that growth is jobs for our children and grand children, as well as new homes and apartment buildings."
Birtch says Woodstock managed to grown in an uncertain year.
"With everything that went on in 2020, some of the starts and stops depending on the regulations from the Province during the pandemic, we saw a very busy year regardless. Many of the cities in Southwestern Ontario are very envious of the quality of life that Woodstock is offering right now."
Woodstock saw tremendous growth on the residential side with new homes and apartment buildings. On the Industrial Side, the City had continued expansion with Toyota Tsusho and others. The City also welcomed several new businesses on Norwich Ave and a couple of Cannabis stores in the downtown.
