After dedicated his life to agricultural sustainability, Steve Veldman has been recognized with the 2024 Agricultural Hall of Fame Award.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture (OCFA) has awarded Steve Veldman with their 2024 Agricultural Hall of Fame Award.
One person is awarded every year for their unwavering dedication to creating a better rural community and stronger industry overall.
Veldman was nominated by the Vice President of the OCFA, Davina Garner, and was presented with his plaque at today’s county council meeting.
He thanked the federation for this honour.
“It's a very proud moment, I think, for any farmer to be recognized. So I'm grateful for OCFA for taking the time to do this every year and very, very grateful to be nominated by Davina and ultimately winning. I don't do it for the recognition, but to be recognized is truly an honour.”
Veldman has dedicated his life to his passion for agriculture, and although he is now technically retired, he still has big plans in the works.
During his acceptance speech at the council meeting, he addressed all his work with sustainability and how with his retirement he hopes to continue to educate other farmers so they don’t start at the same base level he did and avoid the hiccups he encountered.
