There are no immediate plans to put a splashpad in Tillsonburg. During the recent heat wave, residents were forced to drive to Woodstock, Norwich or Ingersoll for some free relief from the temperatures as Tillsonburg does not currently have a splash pad. A poll has started on the Facebook page 'Talk Tillsonburg' by locals asking residents if they would like to see a splashpad brought to the town. Director of Parks & Recreation Rick Cox told Heart FM during the consultation phase of their 2011 Masterplan, the department asked residents where they would support "additional public spending to improve Parks, Recreation & Cultural Amenities." The responses ranked splash pads 3rd, with 69% of households supporting additional spending in this area, but it was not added to the budget at this time. Cox says while current plans do not include investing in a splash pad in Tillsonburg, given community support and Council direction, those plans can change to reflect new priorities though he says there will be several competing demands for investment which could make a splashpad a hard sell. He adds that Tillsonburg has a great history of coming together to find the money to accomplish great things, and he knows there are some pretty motivated people out there wanting to champion this idea.
