The Tillsonburg Santa Claus Parade will get underway at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow
TILLSONBURG - It's the calm before the Santa Claus Parade in the Town of Tillsonburg.
The annual event will get underway at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Co-Chair Holly Vallee says the evening parade was a big hit last year.
"We've decided to stick with that based on the kind of information that was received from last year and the turnout that we had last year. You can expect to see lots of lights and lots of entertainment for the kids."
This year's parade will start at Avondale Church before it goes up to Oxford Street, cuts down Bidwell Street, pass by Tillsonburg Hospital and Woodingford Lodge before heading down Broadway and ending at the staging area on Brock Street.
Vallee says the parade should last about one hour and a half to two hours.
About 60 participants had registered for the parade as of Thursday morning, and registrations were still coming in at that time. Vallee also noticed something interesting.
"What I am noticing is that there's quite a few businesses that have opted to donate to either the Salvation Army or the Firefighter Fund. The firefighters do collect for the Salvation Army and we do have other businesses in there collecting for the Salvation Army and other causes and they're actually choosing to make donations to those."
Donations of non-perishable food items, coats, and toys will be collected during the parade.
The Tillsonburg Santa Claus Parade is hosted by the Tillsonburg and Area Optimist Club.
