Residents of the Town of Tillsonburg will face a municipal tax levy increase of 2.73 percent in 2017
TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg Town Council has approved a budget for 2017.
The $13,989,100 budget will come with a tax levy increase of 2.73 percent. The 2017 budget increased $520,600 when compared to the 2016 figures.
Over $7 million will be spent on capital projects, with almost half of that going towards road work and storm sewers. Projects are planned for Potters Road, Riverview, Newell Road and the northern stretch of Broadway. A new intersection will also be constructed along Highway 3 to allow access to the town's next industrial park.
The Community Centre will go through some upgrades this year. This includes roof repairs and the installation of a new indoor pool deck.
Memorial Park will also have some work done, in honour of Canada's 150th birthday. A new Celebration Plaza will be constructed alongside some trails. Improvements will be made to parking and the ball diamond, and the racetrack will be removed.
