Council approved a budget just over $20 million for 2018, and a tax levy increase of almost 2 percent.
TILLSONBURG - The town of Tillsonburg has a $20 million budget in place for 2018.
Director of Finance Dave Rushton says their budget talks began back in October.
"We looked at the needs of the community and also there are several legislative changes this year; Bill 148 with the fair wages had a significant impact."
There's an almost 2 percent increase in the tax levy. Rushton says the town is also planning on spending close to $12.2 million in capital projects.
"There's program's available for energy retrofits for communities as well as homes. We're doing quite a bit this year investing about $4 million in energy projects where basically saving on those will pay for themselves over the next several years."
They plan to do an energy retrofit at the Tillsonburg Community Centre and convert their streetlights to LEDs.
