UPDATE: The tornado watch issued by Environment Canada has ended for Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - Environment Canada says a tornado watch is in effect for the region.
Thunderstorms are possible throughout the afternoon and may produce a tornado as a cold front approaches from the west, before moving east of the area this evening. Possible hazards include wind gusts of 100 km per hour.
Among the areas affected include Woodstock and Tillsonburg. They say to go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement or a bathroom.
Environment Canada adds to leave mobile homes, cars and tents and any temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, they say to lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
