County Council budget talks continued Wednesday night.
Oxford's Tourism department is actually looking to decrease their budget for 2014.
While it is just a $7,700 levy decrease from last year, several councillors voiced their displeasure with the savings, saying they would like more dollars spent on tourism.
When breaking down the budget, CAO Peter Crockett tells Heart FM the gross is less because there is a major project that finished up this year so it's out of the budget.
"The basic program is exactly the same. We've altered the way that the program is funded so there's a little bit more flexibility with our new Tourism Director coming into the mix and the ability to influence the way the programs are delivered."
When it comes to program spending, the department is going from $76,000 in 2013 to just $12,500 for 2014.
"That was just a difference between fixed programs versus operating programs that allow some flexibility for not precommitting where the funds are going but rather allowing the tourism office to have some flexibility as it builds the program for 2014."
As it currently stands, Tourism has requested just over $380,000 for their 2014 budget.
