Farms in Oxford County in control zones remain under quarantine.
OXFORD COUNTY - A University of Guelph professor is commending the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on its handling of the avian flu outbreak. So far the virus has been limited to three farms within Oxford County. Professor of Pathobiology from the University of Guelph, Shayan Sharif said that Canada is doing a good job when it comes to containing the spread of the virus, "what I've heard is that there have been a few farms put under quarantine it seems that the virus hasn't really spread all that much, thankfully..."
Farms remain under quarantine at this time. Some farms in the area are taking precautions.

Sharif said the virus can affect other birds,"it does have the ability to transmit to other types of birds, but at the moment it seems to be very much contained."
"We suspect that migratory birds may be involved in transmitting the virus, but we don't have very got evidence to support that or refute that."
