"Change starts here". A slogan that will be heard often over the coming months as the United Way Oxford kick off their 2012 campaign this morning at Mostly Roses in Woodstock. Former Campaign Chair Steve Halyk handed over the torch to new Campaign Chair, John Macintosh, General Manager of Heart FM as they announced the 2012 campaign goal of 1.1 million dollars. Macintosh says they're looking to make a major impact with the campaign. "You've gotta have challenging goals when you're setting these things up. You look at the amount of change that $1.1-million can have, and how many people that can help, it's actually quite staggering." United Way Executive Director Kelly Gilson says they're once again counting on the generosity of the community to shine through. "Thankfully we have some of the most generous individuals in the County that step up to the plate for us year after year. So, we're feeling very confident." Today is also Good Neighbour Day; people are encouraged to stop in at Mostly Roses at 807 Dundas Street in Woodstock to purchase a dozen gerbera daisies, keep one flower and then hand out the other eleven flowers. The other flowers could go to neighbours, family, friends or co-workers and are meant to be a thank you to the people who mean the most to them. We'll have more from this morning's 2012 kick off event later this afternoon on Heart FM news.
