United Way Oxford will be working to get a transitional home ready and open in Ingersoll for the new year.
INGERSOLL - United Way Oxford has exciting news.
Executive Director, Kelly Gilson says Santa came early this year for the organization, the people of Ingersoll and Oxford County as a whole. Gilson shares the excitement that is being felt.
"United Way Oxford has been able to purchase a home, the sale is closing today in Ingersoll. We will be opening an Ingersoll transition house like our Tillsonburg Light House early in the new year."
Gilson mentions how the house will be able to impact the community.
"The house will be able to provide a home for 6 individuals at a time. Transitional housing is really great, safe, supportive housing for folks, where they can stay for up to 364 days."
In that time, there will be services to help those get back on their feet and get through whatever situation they might be facing and going through.
Gilson says this house is based on the success of the house in Tillsonburg, service partner Oxford County Community Health Centre, who will be able to provide services on site. She says that Oxford County and its Council along with the Ingersoll Community Foundation are also a big part in getting this house operational.
