UTRCA - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is warning people to be careful around rivers, streams, ditches and ponds.
Officials say the runoff has increased flows in the local waterways thanks to the recent rain and snow melt. We have received about 15 milimetres of rain across the Upper Thames River Watershed since Sunday evening. The recent snow melt also adds another 20 milimetres of water.
The Conservation Authority says the water flow in the upstream area such as Woodstock, Stratford and Mitchell peaked yesterday, and they should remain higher than normal for the rest of the week.
Officials add the banks close to local rivers and creeks could be very slippery. When you also take the fast moving water into account, it could be very dangerous is someone slipped and fell in. Make sure you keep your children and pets away from the water, and don't try to drive through flooded roadways.
