The Woodstock Art Galley is getting ready for the winter exhibitions including photography from Dr. Roberta Bondar.
The Woodstock Art Gallery is featuring photography from Canada's first female astronaut in the upcoming winter exhibition.
Woodstock Art Gallery is very exited to be displaying Roberta Bondar's wildlife photography, especially because this year marks the 25th anniversary of her first space flight and the 50th anniversary of the art gallery itself.
Mary Reid, Director/Curator of the Woodstock Art Gallery told Heart FM about the upcoming exhibit featuring Bondar's artwork:
"We're very, very exited that we're actually hosting Canada's first female astronaut Roberta Bondar. She's actually a well noted photographer, so we're showing an entire suite of the works that she's taken of various biospheres and natural wildlife from all over the world"
The winter exhibitions open at 2 p.m. on February 18th and later in the afternoon Bondar will do a walk and talk about her work at 3 p.m.. Bondar's work includes a lot of natural landscapes and beautiful wildlife scenery.
Reid says there will be other exhibits focusing on local work as well.
"We are hosting a very lovely retrospective exhibition of Devona Paquette she was a local artist who was very prominent here in the 80's and 90's and the Paquette family has been wonderful in terms of helping us out in terms of putting together that exhibition"
