All proceeds will go back to the organization to support their work towards rescue animals, along with finding them a new home. Registration is at 10:00 am before the walk gets underway at 11:00 am.
SWEABURG - The Oxford County Animal Resuce's Wags and Whiskers Walkathon is this weekend.
Participants will head to Trillium Woods in Sweaburg to take part in tomorrow's fundraiser.
Foster Coordinator and Director Anna Holmes says you can bring your pets on the route as well.
"It is just an easy walk. It's just a really nice, gentle walk through the woods to see all of the different trees that they have in the Trillium Woods, as well as any other little wildlife that may brave the dogs that will be walking as well."
Holmes adds pet owners can bring their dogs but they must be kept on a leash and be friendly with other dogs who may be on the walk too.
All proceeds will go back to the organization to support their work towards rescue animals, along with finding them a new home.
She says this event is among their many fundraiser.
"We do fundraising events all year-round. Almost every month we have something of a fundraising event because we're not funded and because we're a volunteer organization, we need to raise the funds to be able to keep helping the animals that are most at risk in our community.
Holmes adds any one who donates over $20.00 will receive a tax receipt.
This is the second year it is being held by the organization, who raised $2,000 in 2018.
The Bow, Wow, Meow Boutique will be on hand and the Oxford County Veterinary Clinic will be having a Microchip Clinic where they'll be selling microchips for $30.00 in case you accidentally lose your pet.
She says there will also be swag bags available for the first 100 people who register.
Registration is at 10:00 am before the walk gets underway at 11:00 am. Pledges can either be picked up at their office on 789 Dundas Street in Woodstock or online.
You can head to their website to learn more information or check out their event page on Facebook.
