WCI fell to Ecole Secondaire EJ Lajeunesse 55-45 in the final.
WOODSTOCK - It was a silver medal finish for the Red Devils.
Woodstock Collegiate Institute (WCI) finished the OFSAA Boys A Basketball tournament in second place yesterday after suffering a 55-45 loss to Ecole Secondaire EJ Lajeunesse (Windsor) last night.
Before advancing to the gold medal final, WCI beat ESC Renaissance (Aurora) 66-55 Monday morning, Crawford Adventist Academy (North York) Tuesday morning, O'Gorman High School (Timmins) 55-41 Tuesday evening, and Woodland Christian High School (Breslau) 69-52 in the championship semifinal yesterday morning.
Woodstock hosted the three-day tournament with the games being held at WCI, College Ave Secondary School, St. Mary's Catholic High School, and Ecole Secondaire Notre Dame. While speaking on Heart FM yesterday afternoon, Convenor Eric Molinaro said he was thankful for the volunteers that helped make it a success.
"It's overwhelming for me to explain the emotion and appreciation I have for those individuals. It made this tournament run so smoothly and we've had a ton of compliments from teams, coaches and parents. It's awesome!"
Twenty senior boys basketball teams from across the province participated in the tournament.
