Why Not Us Wednesdays Return

The weekly program teaches financial literacy to youth between the ages of 12 and 18.

WOODSTOCK - Why Not Us Wednesday is returning for a summer session.

The program is designed to teach kids about financial literacy and encourage entrepreneurship. The sessions are designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 18 and they have lined up an excellent group of local entrepreneurs who will be speaking to the kids once again. The class will also feature financial literacy, how to make a budget, how to save money, invest for the future and preparing kids for the real world. This is a free program.

Organizer of Why Not Us Wednesday Kurke White, also known as the Street Mayor, explains what you can expect from this 8 week course.

"We wanted to teach the kids something new because I know that it is very much a tap and swipe life now. A lot of the youth don't really know I don't want to say the value of money but how it works.  We saw a need for it so we wanted to fill that void."

He details the importance of this course as students prepare for post secondary education.

"They learn about different jobs and different careers that they can look forward to or aspire to we try to bring people who can sort of relate to the youth and at the same time know how money works especially before they go on to college."

The summer program starts on July 9th and they will run every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
