It was a record setting year for the Women and Wellness event in Woodstock, raising over $22,000 for CMHA oxford Walk in Counseling programs.
WOODSTOCK - Over 190 people took part in the 5th annual Women and Wellness Event last month.
Women, men and young people came together to raise over $22,000 for the Oxford County Walk-in Counselling offered by CMHA Oxford. The fundraiser was hosted at the South Gate Centre on September 27th.
Those in attendance heard inspiring stories of hope, recovery and resilience, while showing support in eliminating stigma surrounding mental health and addictions. Guest speakers Betty and Desiree Ford shared their stories of loss and mental illness and recovery, following a serious two vehicle crash in May of last year.
Guests of the sold-out event also bid on a wide variety of beautiful silent auction items, and purchased raffle tickets for three Signature Baskets. This was the biggest Women and Wellness event to date and 2019 Co-Chair Jacqueline Walsh says they were absolutely thrilled with the result.
"We are so proud of the supportive event we have grown together with our community. Our guests are having open conversations about mental health and addictions, sharing their stories of recovery, and strengthening the resilience of our community. We all benefit from these stories being shared, as we continue to end stigma in our community together."
The event was made possible through generous sponsorships from: Zonta Club of Woodstock; Destinations Travel and Cruise Centre; Caressant Care; Jennifer Gale, Re/Max a-b Realty Ltd; Uvalux Tanning & Support; Action Wellness; Vuteq Canada; Whitecoad LLP.
